Victrola is a great place to take my computer and study. Although I prefer Vivace coffee and find the baristas at Vivace more friendly. The sound at Victrola doesn't carry like it does at Vivace. I usually order americanos or chai. I love that they use morning glory and not oregon chai. It can be hard to find a table sometimes. I am only there once in a while. - Wendy , posted 07/30/08 |

one of THEEE best java bars in Sea town. drink up and be caffeinated! - Unsubscribed , posted 04/23/07 |

Four stars for carrying Morning Glory Chai. One less star for the fact they kept messing it up, filling the cup 3/4 full with milk and 1/4 with chai. Will go somewhere else for that sort of thing. Nice place though, I do like the ambiance. It's cosy and inviting. - tushara , posted 07/07/06 |

The coffee is good and once you have enjoyed the atmosphere often enough you find the barista's are wonderfully real people. I have met many amazing people here, just chating with strangers, and I can almost always find A great conversation. the service is slow, but who cares really we are always moving too fuckin fast anyways nowadays, slow down and enjoy - Unsubscribed , posted 02/02/06 |

to say that victrola is too pretentious is kinda redundant. on capitol hiss, as i like to call it, every coffee shop is pretentious. every bar is pretentious, every person on the street (given that you can tell them apart) is pretentious. If you go to a coffee shop to "people watch" (which translates to "be seen") then doesnt that make you pretentious, just a little bit? i'm by no means defending victrolas shortcomings, i'm just saying theyre a bit invalid, since every joint in this neighborhood is. i go to victrola often enough, its closest to my haus, next to fuel, which i find creepy, Its often pretty god damned busy, and shorthanded, and its probably hard enough working there without all the capitol hill coffee elitists being so hard on you. i've always gotten pleasant service, because i'm always a pleasant customer, even if i've waited a bit. its not the baristas fault some jackass was too busy yukkin it up or spacin out in line to figure out what they wanted before they got to the counter, y'know? "Victrola coffee makes you gay"? Everyone round here is already gay, or at least half gay. Now i gotta give props to Vivace, because the barista (or at least the ones working that day) didnt have the Coffee Bitch complex. lotsa trindie kids think they are just the shit because theyre pullin coffee in some hip cap hill joint, and no matter how much attitude i get, i still tip a damn dollar, just to show that its just as easy to go out of your way to be nice to someone. i just thought the original rating of what was it, 1 was really unfair, and its a biased judgement, i think. somebody obviously had an altercation......thanks or whatever... VICTROLA TIL SOMETHING BETTER OPENS NEAR MY HOUSE. - m'shele , posted 01/25/06 |

my goodness, it really is pretensious, as you say. vivace near broadway is a million x better, and, the coffee there is some of the best in seattle, which i cannot say about victrola. the only purpose it serves is to people watch, i.e., mostly young "hipster" types, or at least people who think they are, (the white belt types) and to make you feel old, if you are older than 25. - luciernaga , posted 01/22/06 |

I've plenty of times and will continue to go to Victrola, however ... the baristas are often snobby. I've had great experiences, but about half the time I get the I'm-not-a-barista-I'm-an-artist attitude. Fine. But at other coffee shops (Vita, Petit Rosa, La Panzanella, etc.) the folks behind the counter offer great customer service. Victrola could take a lesson from this. - Daniel , posted 10/19/05 |

I wore my "Victrola Coffee Makes You Gay" t-shirt today and was the recipient of "nice shirt!"s, smiles and laughs everywhere I went. I've worn this t-shirt before, but it's never gotten this reaction before. What's changed - me or Victrola??? - Will , posted 08/21/05 |

it's a win-win place...great people, local neighborhood, great sandwiches, coffee, and teas, fabulous art and free wifi.. but you'll just have to experience the "realness" for yourself... it's like trying to describe what Paris is like or how a gelato tastes by the trevi fountain.. - Sam , posted 08/07/05 |

By far my favorite place to meet friends for a hot cup of Java and great convo. - Ozzy , posted 07/16/05 |

Don't know what I would do without my Victrola fix (my dog agrees...she gets much attention while hanging outside). Wonderful setting, great people, interesting art. And interesting conversations with folks such as D.F. - Gilly , posted 12/31/04 |

Victrola on 15th is a great place. Occasional events to make you shut your laptop down and look up to see who is around you. The best damn triple shot rice latte on earth. And all the barrista have actual personalities.....yes they have not been reformatted by a corporate mentality. - ۞Dragonista , posted 11/28/04 |
