Thai Cuisine - Best of Seattle
You will likely have to wait for a table (outside) but your patience will be rewarded with an authentic, complex, and remarkably delicious meal enjoyed in a tiny restaurant with a comfortable and enticing ambiance (even the menus and decor are brilliant). The service is fast and friendly once you are seated and part of what makes it so wonderful is that the prices are very reasonable (cheap eats). You will not find any bullshit crystal glasses or fresh linens here.
They have two Tom Yum soups, one with coconut milk and one without, which are absolutely excellent. The "Swimming" Rama is the best I've ever had and the Panang Curry is so perfectly balanced that it would be a crime to try and compliment it with the usual pik nam plah (which they do not serve anyway). On balance Thai Tom is far and away the best Thai restaurant I've ever found here in Seattle and after 17 years I've been to most of them. (TIP: my favorite chef cooks mainly during the day - George.)
If you love Thai cuisine you simply must visit this restaurant often and enjoy it while it lasts. It used to be that you could get AMAZING curry dishes at a little Thai place near Seattle Center & Mercer but they clearly lost their star curry chef somewhere along the way because their distinctive offerings only lasted a few years (the restaurant is still there but the curry dishes have not been anything to write home about for many years now). So for all of you Thai connoisseurs with discerning palates it is exciting to know that once again one can find exemplary Thai cuisine here in Seattle – right there in a humble little eatery on The AVE.
