Hillside Quickies Has the Best Sandwiches!
Hillside Quickies has absolutely delicious sandwiches. The exterior of the deli is quite unassuming - so unassuming in fact, that I have spent years walking right past it without taking notice. At the recommendation of a friend I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised. Vegan sandwiches that offer savory flavors that could satiate even the most carnivorous of palettes. The sandwiches do take a few minutes to prepare, so make sure to allow yourself a few extra minutes in waiting time. - Kate , posted 03/10/07

Hillside Quickies!
Hillside Quickies is the least healthy healthy food you'll ever eat and -my God- it is worth every motherfuckin' calorie of loving foody goodness. To quote Saul Williams, "they're vegan mayo is the best thing since sliced bread!" - We are not D-Vo, , posted 10/10/04

I'm not Vegan, but I eat there all the time
Hillside Quickies is located on Brooklyn Avenue NE and NE 42nd Street in Seattle's University District.

It was started by Ayinde Howell, a local African-American entrepreneur, who wanted African-American food to be healthier and also wanted to have a restaurant that suits Ital standards (like kosher, but for rastafarians). He also wanted to make the attempt to meld together veganism and hip-hop culture. My favorite is the Tofu Teriyaki Udon. Here is an article in the Seattle Times about him.
