I sell limited edition prints of the original oil paintings, ritual dance photography, and just recently Tarot of the Pomegranate tarot decks "in progress" at Gargoyles. There are many great local artists selling their creations in this shop, and Gayle the owner, is a great supporter of artists of the darker side! The most recently famous faerie artist, Amy Brown, got her start selling her faerie prints at Gargoyles. Gargoyles is also part of the Ballard Artwalk, with an opening and reception included for the artist of the month. Rene Aceves is also the best local Tarot reader/Astrologer around and he is available for consultation daily at Gargoyles. He is also one of the models in Tarot of the Pomegranate! Gargoyles is a University District landmark, or if it isn't it should be, having been darkly and happily located there for the past 11 years. Small, and a little nervewracking to walk around in, this is nonetheless a simply wonderful store chock full (no, really!) of some of the most weird and unusual sculpture this side of Transylvania. They like to refer to it as "historical and fantastical images," and I think that says it well. Green men, Goddesses, Gnomish things, Fountains, Fairies, Mermaids, Skulls, Dragons, and of course Gargoyles. Also jewelry, T-shirts, incense, and more. 4550 University Way N.E.
