My Experience Seems to be a Fluke
I went there and had one of the worst coffees of my life. The barista was just plain mean and the shots were just slightly brown hot water. Ick is what I say. - Colin , posted 08/21/05

Very neat place. Cool decor....
Went there once and received poor service.
It wasn't even busy.

Great fackin' coffee though.

Come for the funky decor, stay for the excellent coffee and food!
I started going to Coffee Messiah because I loved its gothic Christian kitch look, from the darkly painted walls and floors to the "Disco Inferno" bathroom to the well-worn "Last Supper" armchairs. But behind the irreverent decor hides one of the best damn cups of real coffee you can get in Seattle. Want a plain ol' latte? They got it, just the way it should be. Want to try a Mexican mocha? They can set you up that way too, and you'll love it, guaranteed. Prefer an Italian soda, chai, or sweet tea? They can hook you up most of the time, although the sweet tea has been a little inconsistent in availability.

They also serve vegan patries and entrees, which, to a dyed-in-the-wool carnivore such as myself, may seem horrifying at first. But I can personally vouch for the tastiness of pretty much everything on their menu. Their biscuits in country gravy, for example, tastes as good as any sausage-dripping infused breakfast my mother ever made. And while most scones seem awfully dry to me, theirs always seem fresh and light.

Plus, you can meet some very interesting people at such a coffeeshop. I have! You will too--just hang out there for a couple hours if you can, and you're bound to strike up an interesting conversation before too long. And that's what coffeeshops are best at providing, in the end. The wonderful coffee and food will just make sure you keep coming back, that's all. And I'm sure you will. - Lilith , posted 04/08/05

I'm Converted
Coffee Messiah serves organic, shade grown coffees. I ordered a 12-oz. Americano during a recent visit to Seattle, and seriously, it was best I've yet tasted away from home! I didn't have a chance to try any of the food (which makes the rating difficult), but there appeared to be a good variety of vegan sandwiches on the menu. The artsy/funky/unorthodox decor and background music were intriguing, too. I wish I could've hung out longer. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/14/04
