GREAT FOOD
But service is not to be underestimated when reviewing a restaurant. The service at this restaurant is over worked and underpaid. The way they hover over a once sipped glass of water makes me cringe. I go to a restaurant to relax and enjoy my food. At Cedars I feel rushed and hounded by staff who are being, in return hounded by the owner to keep busy. Insider tip. Don’t. The tips only go to the owner and his family and do not go to the servers or the wait staff (unless it’s a family member). You can choose to go to Taste of India just a few blocks away with the same menu but with a far more relaxed environment as it is owned by his son. No line either. - amanitaman , posted 01/21/07

Sooooooo good.
I don't know Indian food very well, but I do know chai (my almost-husband's mom learned to make it in Tibet), and man, do they have some good, authentic chai. Also, the nan is the best I've ever had, and generally, anything you get there, from salad to Tandoori chicken, is totally yummy. - Kimberly , posted 12/12/06

Outstanding food!
It's always busy - on good-weather evenings, give yourself a LOT of extra time - but it's so worth it. The entire menu is stunningly well prepared, and there is no better cuppa chai than Cedars'. It's the standard all others are judged by - and fail, every single time. - Unsubscribed , posted 08/11/06

The best in Seattle by far! I used to live a few doors down from this place and I was a regular to say the least. - Stellar Jay Sun , posted 06/26/06

Indian and Middle Eastern Par Excellence
A converted house just west of The Ave houses this truly impressive restaurant with a great big menu and a great big heart. If you're going for dinner you might have to wait, 'cause the word is out about Cedars, a family-run restaurant on a large scale. Summer nights dining outside are great, but I'd go there in preference to 90% of Seattle restaurants in any season to experience the friendly service, bottomless cups of Chai, and a Butter Masala to crawl on your knees for. Oodles of vegetarian choices, too, on both the Indian and Middle Eastern sides of the menu.

Start off with a Paneer Pakora starter, move on to that Butter Masala over Basmati Rice (they won't make you crawl, honest - they're wonderful folks), and finish up with some Halvah or Baklavah and a cup of Lebanese Coffee seasoned subtly with Cardamom. You'll be back.
