Senior .NET Developer – Agile

Our client in Lacey, Washington, a growing and profitable software company, is looking for several .NET Developers to join their team. Successful candidates will have at least 5 years of .NET development experience and have experience or at least a strong interest in being part of a collaborative Agile team. Conforming to Scrum methodologies, a Senior Developer works without direct supervision to apply analysis, programming, data access/retrieval and problem solving skills to address assignments and issues on company software. A Senior Developer participates in the architecture, design and refactoring of our software, provides high-level or detailed time estimates for development tasks, assists their team with workload planning and tracking team accomplishments, and is responsible for organizing, prioritizing and implementing their personal workload.

Responsibilities

The work described below is not intended to be all-inclusive but representative of the duties/responsibilities carried out by this position.

Primary
* 30% of the position involves designing, coding, documenting, and testing Enterprise Software based on specifications and conforming to the Scrum methodologies. Components include, but are not limited to: Datapages (dynamic web pages), SQL scripts, Active Reports, Business Objects and Custom Web Controls.

* 10% of the position involves working closely with Business Analysts to identify and analyze technology needs and problems; attending/facilitating fact gathering sessions, analyzing problems for pieces of the application; solving problems with minimal assistance.

* 10% of the position involves continuous improving, refactoring, benchmarking & performance tuning, leveraging industry available tools, coding templates and developing & following best practices.

* 10% of the position involves developing & reviewing code with others, suggesting ways to improve code and mentoring other developers.

* 10% of the position involves assisting other teams as needed to complete a release and maintain the quality of the system and documentation. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, work with other teams may include assisting with workload planning, facilitating, QA testing, developing database changes, updating specifications, troubleshooting help desk items and working directly with clients to resolve issues.

* 10% of the position involves performing data flow diagramming and/or process modeling as well as reviewing such items for other developers or assisting them as needed.

* 10% of the position involves assisting with pre-release and release processes including final testing, correcting, release documenting and facilitating / coordinating the process.

* 5% of the position involves actively participating as a member of a small, cross-functional, integrated development team. Team activities include but are not limited to: workload planning, estimating, and developing detailed plans, tracking accomplishments, participating in team meetings and status reporting. May also include acting as team representative.

* 5% of the position involves assisting with writing and reviewing specifications for application components.

Qualifications

* Bachelor degree, Associate degree or completion of an accredited vocation training program in an information technology program which includes completion of course work in at least one programming language.

* Minimum 5 years systems development experience in a business environment.

* Advanced skills in the following: ASP.NET, VB.NET, Visual Studio, Visual Basic, Visual Source Safe, ASP, HTML, DHTML, VBScript, transact SQL, MS SQL Server and Active Reports. Experience with Team System highly desired.

* Advanced skills with relational database concepts and database management systems.

* Strong interest and/or experience in Scrum and Agile methodologies.

* Positive attitude regarding new technology and the effect of that on continual change in the work place.

* Ability plan, manage and track own work. Ability and desire to work with highly motivated and dynamic team of peers and contribute effectively to the synergy of that team.

* Very good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate simple to complex technical ideas, processes and procedures to a variety of audience levels.

* Experience with case management systems, financial management systems, and/or governmental database management systems are highly desirable.
